So he (pbuh) said, that time would shrink and so the deeds, the output of good deeds would be less, and greed, miserliness, stinginess would be placed in the hearts of people, and the Prophet (pbuh) said, and murder would become prevalent, murder would become prevalent.

And so there is a direct connection between the shrinking of time and the shrinking of the output of deeds.

And the first thing is that the Prophet (pbuh) was a morning person. The prophet (pbuh) said that Oh Allah, bless my nation in its early hours, bless my Ummah in its early hours.

The third thing; spending time with your family,

The fourth thing; acts of gratitude.

Number five, a daily recitation of the Quran specifically surah al baqarah.

How can you should be sure you’re going to heaven? We believe that nobody can be sure, because heaven is something that belongs to Allah, to God almighty. And he said, “Even me, I rely on the mercy, the Rahma of Allah to attain paradise.”

The most important things for us to note is why the fasting was prescribed in the first 1st place;

O you who believe fasting has been prescribed upon you, just like it was to those before you, in order that you achieve Taqwa- the consciousness of Allah, the fear of Allah.

One of the primary things you and I need to understand is the consciousness which means to know that He is your Lord. He made you. He is in control of everything on Earth. And you are going to helplessly go back to Him.

So Allah says, I have prescribed fasting so that your relationship with Me can be on the highest level. You need to value the Lord Who created you so that you can achieve consciousness of Allah.

I can never imagine putting my head on the ground in that position or posture for anyone or anything besides my Maker.

If you have a connection with Allah, you will realize that the same Allah I’m trying to impress made this guy here sitting next to me or this person sitting on the other side, the same Allah made that person.

So if I want to impress Allah, I got to just be good to what Allah has made people. Reach out to them, speaking with respect to a creature of Allah would probably earn you paradise.

This Deen, This religion is so beautiful. It teaches us goodness, kindness, compassion, closeness to your Maker, a very high level of morality, a beautiful level of character and conduct.

Let’s remember, Allah doesn’t need us. We need Allah. So Allah is watching us. He put an instruction and he says, what are you going to do? Pray five times a day for me, but the benefit is actually yours.

If the whole world had to transgress against Allah, it doesn’t deplete anything from Allah’s Kingdom. It doesn’t decrease His value even in iota. And if all of us had to obey Allah, may Allah make us from among those, it doesn’t increase the value of Allah, it increases our value. We become closer to Allah.

Spend a bit of time with the people; serve the people, especially those who are underprivileged. The Prophet (pbuh) has told us to serve those who have been struck with calamity disaster.

But, if we have, say a concept of God, in which life is a test, there are good things that happen; there are bad things that happen.

In Islam, we believe that God created this life to be a test. So evil and good, we’re tested by all the time.

Islam teaches you not be a slave to your own desires, not be a slave to society, but be a slave to God.

About A Smooth Sailing In A Tumultuous Life | Mufti Menk

Before you were born Allah Almighty has already written certain things about you and I. The exact time of birth, the exact time of death, whether or not we will be fortunate, and at the same time the sustenance that will be ours, the tests and the major challenges.

So the major aspects of your lives and mine were written prior to your birth. Now the tests that you were going to have, are going to have, shall have are also determined by Allah Almighty.

You need to know your tests. You will go through them. You have to go through them one by one. It is impossible for anyone on Earth to have it smooth sailing totally.

It’s up to you to realize you cannot have it smooth sailing. There is not a soul on earth who has everything because you came on to this Earth in order to be tested.

Tests come from Allah. You can manage but only with the help of Allah. On your own, you cannot do it. If you remove Allah from the equation and you don’t want to pray and you don’t want to bear patience, you won’t succeed.

There’s no chance that we are not going to have someone without anxiety. You don’t know the future. That itself is the level of anxiety.

But faith will keep you going with calmness.
