EP15 | Contentment from Revelation | Ramadan Series 2019 | Mufti Menk

It is very important for us to develop the right company; we should have the good company. We should be from among those who are good company for others and this is when we will achieve contentment. Did you know that 90% of people are destroyed when they have bad company?

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala has also addressed the matter very powerfully, very simply and he has actually said in surah at-taubah verse number 119

O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true. (9:119)

The verse number 12 of surat yunus where Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala speaks about how man calls out to Allah when he is in need. The minute the need is fulfilled he forgets Allah, he pretends like he never ever called out to Allah.

And when affliction touches man, he calls upon us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing. (10:12)

So this is something that we need to take heed of may Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala make us from those who when we call out to Allah we appreciate what Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala has done. When we ask Allah to cure us we appreciate that by turning to Allah after we’ve been cured.

There is something known as awliya’u Allah, the Friends of Allah those who are close friends of Allah. Allah says regarding them they are the most content, they’ll be happy; they have no reason to fear or to be sad.

Awliya are those who have two qualities in them.

Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah (10:62 and 63)

Two qualities:  those who believe firmly in Allah and they are conscious of Allah. When you’ve developed these two things Iman and taqwa you will not be sad, you will not have reason to be fearful, you will not be worrying at all because you know that I believe in Allah, I’m convinced. Allah will take care of me.

We have difficulty, we hardship on earth. Allah did not say he will not give us hardship. We will go through a lot of hardship but he will grant us contentment if we know how to process the hardship. look at musa alayhi salam, how long did he struggle for yet he was a prophet of Allah, his people, how long did they suffer for decades on end but they knew they were helped directly by Allah.

[ Allah ] said, “Your supplication has been answered.” So remain on a right course and follow not the way of those who do not know.” (10:89)

Regrets On The Day Of Judgement – Mufti Menk

Complaint about YOU! – 7th Ramadan Boost – Mufti Menk

Lessons from the surat Al-Furqan. Allah tells us us about what will be happening on the Day of Judgment and he tells us what will be the issues that people will regret?

Allah says while you are thinking about all of what you want on earth; remember there will be certain things you will regret when you come on the Day of Judgment. One of the things Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala

One of the things Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala talks about very loud and clear is the distance between us and the revelation. When there is a distance between us and the Quran we will regret it.

one of the biggest regrets that man would have on the day of judgment is Allah sent you a message regrets that man would have on the day of judgment is Allah sent you a message and you didn’t bother looking at what that message was.

The second matter the issue of company, the issue of your friends the issue of those around you is raised very powerfully in this surah Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala speaks about those who will regret on the day of judgment, they will regret their company the people they had around them.

You need to ask yourself two questions what type of friends do I have? What type of people do I interact with? That is question number one; question number two is what type of a friend am I to those whom I interact with? – Mufti Menk

Why Can’t Women Fast During Their Menstrual Cycle- Mufti Menk

What is the reward of a person who doesn’t fast?

Many of the women are asking about the reward of a person who or a sister who cannot fast because of her going through her menstrual cycle, her periods that is a very very interesting question.

Why did Allah decide that a person who’s going through their menstrual cycle cannot fast? Well, it is the decree and decision of Allah. When He says don’t fast you won’t fast. When He says fast you fast, when He says it is optional with some fasts you know the voluntary fast then it becomes totally optional.

So, the idea here is not about fasting. It’s about obeying Allah. Don’t forget that. It is about the obedience of Allah. Remember the acts of worship do not benefit Allah but rather the obedience of Allah benefits us. So it’s not about whether you fasted or not when it comes to the reward. It’s about whether or not you obeyed the instruction of Allah.

So the reward is great. The reward is always with the obedience of Allah subhanahu wata’ala. If you obey Allah, that is where the reward lies.

Those people who want to take medication in order to stop that menstrual cycle from coming you know it is medication perhaps that would stop that blood completely.

Now the issue again number one is what is natural is always the best. Let things flow, let things go and let things happen according to nature it is healthier for you. It is better for your life for even with allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala you are losing nothing.

If there is medication you need to look at the side effects. You need to look at what it does to you. There are so many side effects one of them is long-term bloating. it’s because of the contraceptive pills you are having or perhaps because of pills that are within your system in order to stop what was natural. So you’ve got to be careful not everyone’s system agrees with the medication and not every medicine agrees with all the people. So that’s sometimes a side effect.  Another side effect I’ve heard about I’m not a doctor but I’ve heard sometimes tumors that may develop over long prolonged usage of this medication. One thing if your period was something that was regular. There are some people who complain of irregularity that is permanent thereafter because something happened and you messed up with your system.

Although if you were to stop it through those pills, your fast is still valid, Allahu Akbar.

EP14 | Contentment from Revelation | Ramadan Series 2019 | Mufti Menk

when we joke, yes we’d like people to laugh, make sure that that laughter is within the limits of Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala, the jokes should not be blasphemous, they should not be abusive or hurtful to any race, to any religion, to any group of people and more than anything they should not be disrespectful to Allah, to the signs of Allah, to the messengers of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala.

The reason is if we do that we will lose contentment.

This we get from the Quran, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala warns us in surah At-Tawba where there were people who were claiming to have joked about the Prophet peace be upon him and the messengers and later on they actually were proven guilty.

And if you ask them, they will surely say, “We were only conversing and playing.” Say, “Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?” (9:65)

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala speaks about how important it is to appreciate things people do, no matter how small they are. Because Allah Himself appreciates what people do, no matter how small things are.

When someone does good don’t forget it. How many people we have done good to they’ve forgotten but don’t realize how many people have done good to us and we have forgotten. Don’t forget the goodness someone has done to you even if it was a very small portion of goodness because Allah doesn’t forget and Allah rewards in a massive way.

Those who criticize the contributors among the believers concerning [their] charities and [criticize] the ones who find nothing [to spend] except their effort, so they ridicule them – Allah will ridicule them, and they will have a painful punishment. (9:79)

If you scoff at someone Allah will scoff at you, you laugh at someone Allah will create the environment for you to be laughed at. Where is your contentment? It’s gone because you hurt someone. you thought bad and evil about someone. Watch out.

Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala speaks of the benefit of the zakah and the charity that is taken from the Muslims. what does this zakat actually due to us? it brings about contentment when you have given with a good heart, open heart ,when you are calculating your zakat and your being miserly you will not achieve goodness.

Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [ Allah ‘s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. (9:103)

EP01 | Contentment from Revelation | Ramadan Series 2019 | Mufti Menk

In the episode one of a beautiful series entitled ‘Contentment From Revelation’ (CFR)  of Ramadan 2019 in view to achieving #contentment by going through the Quran MuftiMenk made mention of the verses of Surah Surah Al Fatiha and Surah Al-Baqarah.

we are all searching for happiness for contentment and for success, in order to achieve this the Almighty has revealed so many verses and so many books, so many it’s up to us to go through this and to understand the plan of the Almighty when we understand the plan of the Almighty. We will definitely be able to achieve contentment.

Remember one thing; the Almighty when He created us did not promise us that we will be the most wealthy or we will be the most influential etc, but rather He promises us that if you were to follow what I tell you, you will be happy, you will be content. May the Almighty grant us all contentment.

Always understand the mercy of Allah. It will fill us with hope; it will fill us with goodness. We will be content and happy when we’ve understood the mercy of Allah.

He is indeed very merciful. He is indeed so so kind. He has given us so much that we didn’t even ask for that is the mercy of Allah subhanahu wata’ala. When you call out to Allah He will definitely hear. if you don’t call out to Allah you are not going to be able to achieve that contentment, understand He’s in control, understand what He wants from you.

When we’ve called out to Allah subhanahu wata’ala and we believe in Him firmly. It brings us towards the rest of the creatures of Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala, the kindness towards them is what comes from us. Because we’ve understood that Allah made me and he made all the other creatures as well.

If you develop your relationship with your maker you will definitely be from among those who achieve contentment because you’ve developed your relationship with your Maker.

Mufti Menk points out the following three points for achieving contentment for the soul / heart from the #Quran:

“1. You must believe in the unseen,

  1. You must establish your prayer to develop your relationship with Allah.
  2. You’ve reached out to others by spending what the Almighty has given you.

No one has achieved contentment by being miserly, by being stingy, by being selfish but rather people have achieved contentment by becoming very very generous”.
