How Believing In The Unseen Overcomes Skepticism From Logic | Dr. Omar Suleiman

It is very easy for us 1400 years later, when we hear the stories of these miracles that took place with our beloved Prophet (pbuh) and with the prophets that came before him to say that had we been there, we would have believed the two right away. We would have, without any reservation, accepted what has come to us through him (pbuh).

What did Abu Bakr (Ra) answer when they told Abu Bakr (ra) what the prophet (pbuh) said? If he said it, he’s telling the truth. Abu Bakr (Ra) said, I believe him when he says that he receives revelation from the Lord of the heavens and the Earth in an instance and that’s a far greater miracle than this.

None of it physically make sense. It defies my logic in terms of physical dimensions. miracles, that if they were to happen in front of us, we would not know how to come to terms with it, and perhaps we would deny them. Why is that? And Subhanallah, We find that Allah connects the inability to believe in miracles from Him that defy our physical norms to believe in the hereafter/ to believe in the akirah.

Remember at the very beginning of the Quran, those who believe in the unseen.

Allah (swt) says, when the Prophet (AS) read the Quran to them, it’s a powerful verse. When you read the Quran to them, oh messenger of Allah, a barrier is placed between you and those that don’t believe in the hereafter. It’s like a hijab is between them because they can’t come to terms with the idea of the hereafter. Make these miracles make sense to me, okay. And the same barrier that would be in us to cause scepticism with the miracles is the same barrier that would cause us skepticism with the akirah,

And that’s why Allah specified we put a barrier between you and those who don’t believe in the akirah. If they have a hard time with the hereafter, how are they gonna believe that something miraculous is happening around them in real time?

There’s no such thing as easy or easier or hard or harder with Allah. It’s just Allah says, and it is …..be and it is.

How that scepticism starts to creep in you read some fiqh books, some Aqidah the books, and you say, you know what? This doesn’t make sense to me. My logic is greater than what Quran and the sunnah say.

So I’m gonna come up with some modern answer to undermine the Scripture, undermine the text, undermine the Quran And Sunnah because the dimensions it all has to fit with my dimensions with my thinking and Allah (swt) says, Know your place. Your dimensions have no relevance to Allah (swt)’s Dominion. Your perception has no relevance to Allah’s power.

Know your place and call upon the Lord who worked these miracles that seemingly defied logic and understand that Allah (swt) has that same power with you.

We believe in the unseen. We have no issues in our heart. When we read anything in the Quran, we believe the prophet (pbuh) went to Jerusalem and heavens and came back in one day.

The Medicine That Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ) Gave In A Woman’s Dream | Shaykh Ali Hammuda

The famous scholar of Hadith, Al-Hakim al-Nishapuri (Rah), a well documented story of an illness that he battled against for months on end,  He was afflicted with Blister that he tried to treat for around a year using an array of techniques, and it wasn’t with any success.

And on one Friday he requested imam Abu Uthman (Rah) only to make a Dua for him in front of the congregation during the sermon so that Allah may purify him, give him relief. He made a dua for Al-Hakim (rah)  on the pulpit.

The week after, a woman handed over a letter mentioning that she was present during last week’s sermon and how her heart was broken to hear about what Al-Hakim (Rah) was experiencing. So she says in the letter that she went home and she made dua for him. and she saw prophet Muhammed (pbuh) in her dream that evening, who said to her, tell Al-Hakim to provide water for the Muslims.

The narration says that it was only a week that passed after this incident, before the Blisters began to clear from his face, they totally disappeared. His face returned to how it was before, and he lived for many years after it as well.

Because this is a medicine, Sadaqah with water, specifically that most medics they don’t prescribe to the ill, charity, generally  speaking, and at times with water.

The effects of Sadaqah in repelling all types of calamities are extraordinary Even if the giver of the charity is a sinner or an oppressor or a person of no faith, kaffer.

These spiritual remedies can do what the tangible remedies fail to do at times. And he said, Nobody reject this except those who have been severely covered from understanding.

So Sadaqah repels calamities, it eases pains, it diverts misery. It yields an inner sense of expanse that cannot be quantified.

The messenger (pbuh) was the most generous of people. And he was the most generous in the month of Ramadan.

When there is a need to reconcile between the hearts of two Muslims (or parties), we should sincerely pray to Allah, as He alone can guide our hearts.

 

A sincere Dua can bring harmony and love to the hearts of the warring parties more than any other worldly tactic. Whether it’s hatred between two friends, brothers, spouses, or any other family members, a sincere Dua to Allah will surely bring results faster and reconcile between their hearts more than any other ingenious plans.

حَدَّثَنَا تَمِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْتَصِرِ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، – يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُوسُفَ – عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كُنَّا لاَ نَدْرِي مَا نَقُولُ إِذَا جَلَسْنَا فِي الصَّلاَةِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ عَلِمَ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ ‏.‏ قَالَ شَرِيكٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا جَامِعٌ، – يَعْنِي ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ – عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، بِمِثْلِهِ قَالَ وَكَانَ يُعَلِّمُنَا كَلِمَاتٍ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُعَلِّمُنَاهُنَّ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا التَّشَهُّدَ ‏ “‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا وَاهْدِنَا سُبُلَ السَّلاَمِ وَنَجِّنَا مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ وَجَنِّبْنَا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي أَسْمَاعِنَا وَأَبْصَارِنَا وَقُلُوبِنَا وَأَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ وَاجْعَلْنَا شَاكِرِينَ لِنِعْمَتِكَ مُثْنِينَ بِهَا قَابِلِيهَا وَأَتِمَّهَا عَلَيْنَا ‏”‏ ‏.‏

Transliteration: “allahumma allif bayna quloobinaa wa aslih thaata bayninaa wahdinaa subul as salaam wa najjinaa minaz zulumaati ilan noori wa jannibnal fawaahisha maa zahara minhaa wa maa batana wa baarik lanaa fi asmaa’inaa wa absaarinaa wa quloobinaa wa azwaajinaa wa thurri yaatinaa wa tub alaynaa innaka antat tawwaab al raheem waj’alna shaakireena lini’ matika muthneena bihaa qaabileehaa wa atammahaa alaynaa”

Transl. ►
Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud:

We did not know what we should say when we sat during prayer. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was taught (by Allah). He then narrated the tradition to the same effect. Sharik reported from Jami’, from AbuWa’il on the authority of Abdullah ibn Mas’ud something similar.

He said: He used to teach us also some other words, but he did not teach them as he taught us the tashahhud: O Allah, join our hearts, mend our social relationship, guide us to the path of peace, bring us from darkness to light, save us from obscenities, outward or inward, and bless our ears, our eyes, our hearts, our wives, our children, and relent toward us; Thou art the Relenting, the Merciful. And make us grateful for Thy blessing and make us praise it while accepting it and give it to us in full.

Allah Says Stay Far Away From Intoxicants & Do 3 Things To Handle False Accusations | Mufti Menk

If you look across the globe, the people engaging in that which is prohibited Islamically have increased. And I’m speaking about the Muslims. So if you look at, for example, intoxicants, people are actually consuming and partaking of that which Allah has prohibited; you and I know that anything that intoxicates your mind is actually prohibited.

The prophet (pbuh) says that which intoxicates you, if you were to consume a lot of it, then even a little of it, is prohibited.

So Islam has strict rules. My brothers and sisters, Let’s not drop because others have dropped. Don’t do it. Whether the whole world is doing it or not does not change its ruling.

Allah dangles things in front of us to test our relationship with Him. Allah says He does that in order to distinguish between those who are conscious of Him without anyone looking.

Islam is very strong when it comes to intoxicants and that which is displeasing to Allah.

Don’t talk about others. Don’t involve negatively in the lives of others. Make dua for them. Remind them if you can, Subhanallah, deal with it positively. But Allah says, Watch out for yourself. You be concerned about your own weakness and your own bad.

When you and I are faced with people accusing us, with people saying bad things about us, with people falsely saying things about us and it’s really hurting and it’s really painful.

What should you do?

Three good reminders; declare the greatness of Allah, Do the Tasbeeh (to glorify) of Allah. Praise Allah, Remember Allah and prostrate a lot, Pray a lot. Put your head on the ground for Allah a lot. You will find the comfort you’re looking for. Pray a lot. Allah will protect you.

Then Allah says, the third thing is, continue to worship Allah until death comes to you, you and you will see how Allah will open your doors. you and you will see how Allah will open your doors.

Sometimes we tend to incur evil statements by something we did ourselves about us. You swear someone’s mother, he swears your mother.

That’s why the Prophet (pbuh) says, cursed is the one who swears his own father. So he was asked, how can a man swear his own father? So he says that he swears the father and the mother of another so that person swears his father or mother as a result. So Let’s not curse each other. Let’s not swear each other.

Which Adhkar Should I Prioritize! Istighfar Or Tasbeeh | Shaykh Omar Suleiman

When you’re talking about the aspect of Dhikr, Sometimes when you read about the virtues of one statement of dhikr, you would think that that’s the only dhikr that you should be saying, you would say I

Should be doing nothing but saying astaghfirullah all the time.

 

The Hadith where the Prophet (pbuh) is receiving advice from Ibrahim (a.s) about the seeds of the

Soil of Paradise. Subanallah Alhamdulillah Allah Akbar.

 

It’s every single chapter you find these Adhkars, and you say they’re amazing on which one should I prioritize? And then you find statements from the pious predecessors, and all of this is an introduction

to the question, by the way, statements of the pious predecessors like Fazle and Ibn Taymiyyah

(Rah); when they were asked about prioritizing: seeking forgiveness or glorifying Allah/ Istighfar over Tasbeeh.

 

And the example that they gave was that if you have a garment and it is stained, then you don’t

Embellish the garment before cleaning the stain. So istighfar cleans the stain, Tasbeeh, saying Subhanallah or the buttons on the garment, Are the embellishments on the garment, and so they prioritized istighfar over Tasbeeh, but they never neglected Tasbeeh.

 

Where does that leave us in Ramadan? Where as imam Az Zuhri (Rah) Narrates one Subanallah in

Ramadan is a thousand times, subhanAllah, outside of Ramadan, This month in which the mercy from Allah is descending upon us constantly.

 

The best form of Remembrance is Quran, and the best way to read the Quran is in prayer. so the best dhikr is the dhikr that coincides with the Prophet (pbuh)’s dhikr that is diversified, that your heart is most present in. the best dhikr outside of Ramadan is the best dhikr inside of Ramadan, meaning the reward for your morning Remembrance and evening Remembrance in Ramadan is even greater than what it

Would be outside of Ramadan.

 

The Prophet (pbuh) would not pause the morning of adhkar and the evening of adhkar, the things

he would say in the morning and the things he would say in the evening after asr, because Ramadan came around. And that is the best time to learn the habits of those things. And that is the best time to

learn the habits of those things.

The sunnah that the prophet (pbuh) would not forget to pray outside of Ramadan or inside of Ramadan.

 

The theme of Ramadan that throughout the month of Ramadan, the prize of Ramadan is asking Allah to forgive you.

 

As you are changing your ways and turning your page with Allah (swt) let the core of your your

dua, Oh Allah! forgive me.

Muhammad(ﷺ) Used To Say This Beautiful Dua After His Prayer | Ramadan Short Dua 6

Whenever Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) finished his prayer, he used to say Allahumma antas salam dua after asking Allah’s forgiveness three times: [Reported by Muslim].

‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلاَمُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلاَمُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ

Transliteration: Allahumma Antas-Salam wa minkas-salam. Tabarakta ya Dhal-jalali wal- ikram.

“O Allah, You are As-Salam, From You is all peace, blessed are You O Possessor of majesty and honour”

It’s said for the following reasons:

Act of Worship glorifying Allah.

Shows remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.

Islam is the only religion on Earth that strongly encourages its followers to go through every word of the Quran at least once a year. It has dedicated an entire month known as as Shahrul Quran / the month of the Quran.

What is Ramadan?

It is the month, month of peace, the month of tranquillity, the month of cure, the month of goodness, the month of forgiveness, the month of mercy, the month of attaining Paradise, the month of the Quran, the month of Revelation, the month of celebration of being a Muslim, where we practice self restraint. We don’t just do what we want. We do what the Almighty has ordained; subhanAllah or it is our duty to make an effort with the word of Allah.

The term shahrul Ramadan is only used once in the Quran. And Allah connects it not to the fasting, but rather to the book that He revealed to us. Allahu Akbar.

The Quran is, Subhanallah, supposed to have an impact on the heart, and we are supposed to become more generous.

Make an effort to fulfill taraweeh, to read the Quran on a daily Like I told you, Revelation, make an effort to go through its meaning. Make an effort to actually let it impact on you. Then you know this is the month of Ramadan.

Soften your hearts towards people, learn to love others, learn to appreciate and respect people. Learn to understand that we will have differences of opinion, but we will love each other with those differences. We will learn to respect each other with those differences. We will not insult. It’s the month of protection from Shaytaan.

Fasting is not all about food and drink alone. It’s about molding yourself.

When we are weak and feeble in our obedience to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, the word Taqwa (piety) that we so often hear, seems so difficult to attain …

 

Allah wants us to be in constant remembrance of Him s.w.t. He knows we are going to fall into sin but he wants us to be from those who constantly seek His forgiveness and ask for His mercy.

A person who says :

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْْقَيُّومُ وَ أَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

“Astaghfirullah al-’Azeem al-lazi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilaih ”

 [I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy of worship except Him, The Living, The Eternal, and I repent unto Him] … even if he has committed sins as much as the the foam of an ocean, still he will be forgiven. [Abu Dawud- 2:85/ Tirmidhi 5:569]

Question is, is my reciting going all in vain? And some people even say, well, can I read it in English? Is my reward gonna go, am I not gonna connect to the Quran and if I do that and the answer is no, Brothers and sisters.

The question is, how or why would Allah (Swt) tell us that you have immense reward for just reciting it without understanding? And then in other parts of the Quran, Allah says, why do they not ponder and reflect upon the Quran?

How will you ponder and reflect upon the Quran, if you don’t even open it up, if you don’t even recite it, if you don’t even read it?

So first of all, the Quran and the prophet (Pbuh), they call you to read it first and then comes upon pondering and the reflect naturally and automatically when you really want to connect with the Quran, Allah (swt) guides you through its reading to take that next step.

The Quran calls you to be consistent in reading it and not abandon it, for each time you read the Quran, It amazingly has something to say about what you are going through.

To the point that if you read it with reflection in care, you will soon discover that, as I said before, the Quran is actually reading you and knock the other way around.

The first thing I want to advise you is this, make time to learn how to read in Arabic. Even if you’re extremely slow at the start, keep going, grab a Quran app.

The second step is to recite once you know how to read, start reciting the surahs that you already know off by heart.

Number three; spend about 10 minutes or so looking up the translations of the meanings of the verses which you have recited, even if it’s just one verse, even if it’s just one word.

Number four, as you’re reciting to what and ask yourself the question, Do I do this? What actions do I do that I may be falling into what this verse is saying to me or a particular commandment you come across; you might say, am I doing enough of this Act lately?

Number five, after you ask yourself that question, don’t keep yourself there because then you might feel depressed. Answer your questions and give yourself an answer.

Now, number six, grab a pen or just put it mentally in your head and say to yourself, This is my next plan. For the next week or two, I’m gonna focus on practicing this particular verse, or I’m gonna focus on monitoring myself in this verse on making myself even better.

And Lastly, I’ll just add a number seven for you. Sometimes you don’t feel like we can…the Quran too often. Sometimes you get a little bit bored. Well, listen, even if you listen to the Arabic words being recited with a melodious voice, grab your favorite reciter.

For Seeking Success In This Dunya And The Akhirah | Ramadan Short Dua 4

According to the Hadith the Prophet Muhammad (saws) used to recite this supplication in the morning when first waking up and in the evening.

 

“O Allah, I ask you for Afiyah.”

Afiyah is an all encompassing word referring to overall well-being. This can include health, wealth, and safety from anything that may be deemed as harmful.

To be saved from any afflictions, you are in Afiyah.
To be healthy, you are in Afiyah.
To have enough money, you are in Afiyah.
To live, you are in Afiyah.
To have your children protected, you are in Afiyah.
And if you are forgiven and not punished, you are in Afiyah.

 

In the dua Dunya refers to this worldly life and the akhirah meaning the afterlife.
