Make This Dua If You Are Fallen Into Rivers Of Hardship | How Allah (Swt) Raises Us Under His Eye ~ Shaykh Ali Hammuda

Moses/ Musa (A.S) was chosen by Allah for many characteristics one of which is the fact that he was not afraid to acknowledge his errors and these by the way they wouldn’t be the only examples of how Musa (A.S) retreated to what is right.

Musa (A.S), he threw the Scriptures that Allah had given him just from anger and just shock he just threw the scriptures on the ground and he grabbed his older brother by his hair and by his beard although his brother was older than Musa (A.S) and he began dragging him. Prophet Haroon (A.S) pleaded with Musa (A.S) explaining to him that it’s not his fault.

Moses heart broke to the truth, acknowledged his mistake, repented to Allah and made this following dua:

قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِأَخِي وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِي رَحْمَتِكَ ۖ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

“[Moses] said, ‘My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the most merciful of the merciful.’” (Quran, 7:151)

He would pick up the scrolls from the floor that he threw and that was the end of the problem, see brother sister a sign that Allah has chosen you for Himself and is preparing you for Himself is that your heart falls into submission whenever it hears the term this is halal, this is Haram, this is doubtful. This is not ours, this is not from our Ummah. This is the obligation  this is the prohibition, your heart submits when you are advised with good manners and with evidence, you rush to make amendments to your relationships, your secret habits, your secret conversations, your business dealings even if they are enormous, your manners, your physical appearance, your dress code, your social media, you submit to the  truth.

Another one of the hallmarks in the life of prophet Musa (A.s) that made him a person who was qualified to be prepared by Allah for Allah was his patience.

Our prophet (saw) would console himself sometimes with the difficult circumstances by remembering the Sira of prophet Musa (A.s).

Remember that above the universe is a Lord who is watching and A Lord who is allowing matters to unfold in the ways which they are. But why are we experiencing this worldwide trial? the answer is in the story that you just heard.

So we have just understood that for those who Allah loves, they may come hand in hand, love of Allah and test they may come hand in hand, this is how we must see our difficult situation as Muslims today. As Allah said to Moosa (A.S) in order that you may be brought up under My eye. We are being brought back to our senses as Muslims. Allah is raising us under His eye. Our hardships, as Muslims undoubtedly they are like none other. But why? Because the prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said about you said about us. He said you are the last of 70 nations which Allah has created. however you are the greatest and most honourable of these nations in the sight of Allah (swt).

Moses (a.s) was being prepared for greatness and this Ummah is being prepared for greatness and so we will have to experience the exact same process that prophet Musa (A.s) underwent. But the shore for Musa (A.s) was near and our Shore is just as near as well. Allah said has full power and control will over his affairs but most people they don’t know. – Shaykh Ali Hammuda

How To React If Parents Are Wrong – Mufti Menk

We came into existence because the Almighty made us. He decided that He wants to have us here. We did not decide that.

None of us chose to be here for example to be born where none of us chose the parents we have. None of us chose the children that we have in the case of those who have children. May the Almighty bless those who don’t have children with children, Ameen.

That itself already tells us that we are here on a mission. Because when you have an examination your questions are never chosen by you. It’s always someone else who decides to test you, to examine you by asking you things out of his will, not out of yours.

The Almighty chose I’m going to create you, I’m going to put you in a place without your choice, I’m going to throw you into the deep end to see what you do and part of the blessings of the Almighty is that he did not cause us to grow like trees but rather to have families and to be given birth to.

A family unit is actually a blessing from the Almighty. Today the world is drifting away from the family unit and teaching us that you know what? You do it alone. You don’t need your mom. You don’t need your dad. You don’t need your brothers and sisters. You don’t need this and so on and guess what’s happening? We’re becoming people who are not as content as we used to be. We are becoming people who are searching for contentment in every place and in everything. Besides we’re contentment lies.

I get people who complain to me my parents are very difficult. The first thing that comes to my mind is well that’s part of the test of the Almighty: what are you going to do about it? SubhanAllah and that doesn’t mean that I encourage parents to be difficult, because it is also a test for you when the Almighty’s blessed you with a child. you didn’t choose the exact child that you got. So don’t be so difficult my beloved parents.

Remember the world is changing. it’s part of your test to be polite, respectful, merciful, full of beautiful guidance and at the same time realizing that as time passes you will need to pass the baton to those children.

It’s not wrong to disagree with your parents respectfully where you feel that they are wrong, respectfully. When the Quran speaks about parents it emphasizes more on kindness and respect rather than obedience where the parents are wrong.- Mufti Menk

Say Alhamdulillah Twice When Thing Doesn’t Go Your Way ~Mufti Menk

We’re searching for happiness, for contentment for goodness for success, guess who is the owner of all those? Allah, so if start off by knocking the right door. Develop your relationship with Allah; develop your relationship with the word of Allah.

Ultimately where do we want to reach? jannatul ferdous it means paradise. Ultimately I want to reach paradise.

There is a direction straight it will lead you to a specific goal and you know that but the problem is you know we’re too engrossed in the world. There is a balance between this dunya and akhira (this worldly life and the Hereafter).  Those who  tell you to divorce yourself from this world have not understood the world and those who tell you to enjoy it to the degree that you’ve forgotten where you’re going to go, had also not understood the reality of the world. The powerful dua is in the following:

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ – 2:201

Wa minhum mai yaqoolu rabbanaaa aatina fid dunyaa hasanatanw wa fil aakhirati hasanatanw wa qinaa azaaban Naar

But among them is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا كَسَبُوا ۚ وَاللَّهُ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ – 2:202

Ulaaa’ika lahum naseebum mimmaa kasaboo; wal laahu saree’ul hisaab

Those will have a share of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in account.

Do you know that if sometimes if the plan you had for your own life was granted exactly as you wanted it perhaps you would not have seen that the successes that you have seen as a result of doors being closed by Allah for you.

When something happens your way say alhamdulillah, when it doesn’t happen your way say alhamdulillah twice because it’shappened the way Allah wanted it anyway. it’s amazing. Don’t become despondent..

The hadith I was saying, one of my favorite. So the prophet (saw) was asked what are the characteristics of those who are in Jannah /Paradise what would be the reasons that got them into paradise.  He just said two words; you need two things… the people of Jannah have two: the consciousness of Allah meaning the relationship with Allah and secondly greatness in character and conduct is meaning the relationship with the rest of the creatures of the same Allah.

When you realize that everything happens according to Allah and when he’s given you the capacity to do something the energy, the mental ability, the intellect that the opportunities seize them, make use of them. Don’t be lazy, don’t sit back and say well if Allah wants it will happen. Allah gave you the capacity, Allah gave you everything you needed to get up to do it and Allah would have opened the doors for you but because you didn’t the doors remain closed.

If after you’ve done everything about it the doors were all closed and everything was closed and even the big black gate in the front became closed then you know what you got to say Allah didn’t want it and walk away. – Mufti Menk

The Fourth Category Knowledge Of Allah! The Crux of Istikharah – Mufti Menk

I know of people who become stressed and depressed to the degree that they stopped praying. I called out to Allah but he doesn’t want to listen. The hadith says Allah will definitely respond your dua for as long as you don’t make haste.

I promise you, you need to have conviction that Allah has heard you and responded you and he will give you what you want, when the time is right.

In the dua of stikharah you say oh Allah if this is good for me my deen, my dunya meaning my religion, my life, my future, etc etc my hereafter then let it happen for me, make it easy for me and give me blessings in it, give me baraka in it. but oh Allah if you know in your knowledge and I don’t know, if you know in your knowledge that it’s not good for me then take it away from me, take me away from it and make me happy with your decree.

What was the degree that you’re not going to get it? So we want something we make Istikharah.

But the dua itself tells you that you know what you are saying if it’s good for me let it happen for me. if it’s not happening for you it means you said if it’s not good for me let it not happen for me so the doors are closed, the road is closed, another door is closed, a third door is closed and you still fighting along like a champion and you don’t know but you just made a dua, say oh Allah it’s not good for me take it away from me.

He is busy taking it away from you and you’re running after it.

This is why when you understand the knowledge of Allah and you ponder over it and you surrender to it. You won’t go wrong. So what is the knowledge of Allah?

He knows what happened, He knows what is happening and He knows what will happen. There is a fourth category that He knows and that’s the crux of the whole is Istikharah, subhanAllah.

He knows what happened, He knows what is happening, He knows what will happen and He knows what will not happen if it were to happen, how it would have happened. Allahu akbar.

What is never going to happen, it was never going to happen, it will never happen, if it did happen how it would have happened is part of the knowledge of Allah.

Now surrender to that. Just surrender to that you’ll be a happy person, believe firmly that the condition you’re in is the best possible condition for you right now. Even if its tough becauseAllah didn’t promise you that your life is going to be easy. He only promised you that He’s going to help you through the way if you have faith and conviction.

Recent Four Things Happened – Mufti Menk

Four things (Cyclone in Zimbabwe, in Mozambique and in Malawi, the Ethiopian Airlines crash , Christchurch shooting, and shooting in Netherlands) have happened recently that I know of that have all resulted in the loss of life. all of them are very very sad, some of them are worse than others because of the human factor. the reason is innocent lives have been lost there’s a gunman whether he was Muslim or not, it becomes irrelevant.
so I pray that we can all be vehicles of spreading goodness, justice, love, kindness Understanding, respect, humility, tolerance and whatever other goodness that there is.
Learn to be respectful, think logically you’re not the only person on earth has a right to live on this earth, remembered that…. Mufti Menk

Think Over These Questions When You Feel Sad | Mufti Menk

In this lecture #MuftiMenk presents how to overcome sadness by asking a few questions by oneself as things do not happen according to what or according to how we want them to happen. We are human beings it is only natural and normal that sometimes we feel very #happy and sometimes we feel sad. So when we are happy we need to ask ourselves what is it that has made us happy if it is the relationship you have with Allahsubhanahu wata’ala that is something everlasting; if it is something material connected to this world remember it is temporary and the day will come when Allah will test you by reversing it, it has to be. This life on earth is absolutely it is not going to last long; we in actual fact are here to be tested. So this is Allah He is the one who gives you glad tidings. So do not lose focus and we should praise Allah upon all conditions.

Mufti Menk ends with a powerful narration that always brings about a lot of comfort in our hearts “Amazing are the affairs of a true believer, all of his /her affairs are always good; nothing bad can happen to a true believer. When goodness happens he / she is thankful, when bad happens he /she is patient but he / she never upsets with Allah, he /she never be angry, He /She is always smiling, he/ she is always remembering Allah (swt)#Subhanallah, #Alhamdulillah these are the words these are the actions that will alleviate the #sadness that we feel sometimes as human beings.

Be Happy With Your Fair Share Of Challenges & Tests | Mufti Menk

#MuftiMenk starts with mentioning two questions who Am I & why am I here in this lecture ?

He cited from Surah At-Tin Allah says that we have created mankind in the best of postures no other creature of #Allah has a better posture than ours in the #Quran. We have to ask ourselves the question, why am I on earth, how come people come, when I come onto the earth I can’t remember the moment that I came into and I cannot remember at the time that I was in the #womb of my mother but I was living and there was a life at a certain point 120 days I can’t remember anything how come, why? There must be a reason Allah say in surah al Mulk that it is He who created death and life in order to #test you.

Why Life Gets Filled With Anxiety & Stress | Mufti Menk

#MuftiMenk highlights we all know that when you do good there is good that you will reap. The evil effects of sin in the lives of the believers that is full of #depression a life that is filled with #sadness a life that is filled with #anxiety and #stress. Mufti Menk reminds us remember in Islam we are taught more important than the figure is the blessing of the Almighty in this lecture.

Mufti Menk Quotes in this lecture, “The doors of repentance are open always for as long as it doesn’t get to the end we are still living; we’re still breathing we haven’t yet got to sakrat; we haven’t yet got to Gargara meaning the point of death of each one of us and the world is not yet come to an end. So we can turn back to Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala, so remember the more we become conscious of Allah the less we will fear the rest and the less we are conscious of Allah the more we begin to fear the rest”.

#MuftiMenk mentions the key elements how to form a good #relationship in a #family in this lecture with English Subtitle. He said that the most important people in your life are your parents . We need to respect our #parents because if we respect our parents we will be able to fulfil the plan of Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala here on earth.

Mufti Menk Quotes in this lecture “The parents should be the friends of the children; well technically yes they should be a friendship but there must be a little line where they know that’s my father that’s my mother there has to be a little line.”
