When we spend we should not be giving that which we would not like to receive. What this means is when you’re giving people charity, don’t give them such food or such clothing or such items that you yourself would not take. This is a strict instruction from Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala.
Remember the charity a point that we forget, it is for Allah. It’s just that Allah has put a poor person to collect it on His behalf SubhanAllah SubhanAllah, think about it.
So give in a good cause, search for those who are in need, for indeed by reaching out to them, You will achieve a lot of goodness. So they thank Allah by praying for you too.
Be conscious of the day that you’re going to return to Allah at all times.
We belong to Allah and ultimately, we’re all going not just this person who passed away, now but all of us are going back to where we came from SubhanAllah.
Allah says from that dust We created you, you’re going to go back into the dust and We’re going to resurrect you thereafter from there once again. But shaitaan distracts us. From even thinking about it…
So, the majority on earth perhaps would not really be so concerned about where they came from, where they’re going but those who know they know. They think about it.
Contentment comes by discipline, you get up at a certain time, you only eat certain things. You only drink certain things. You will sleep at a certain time. You will behave in a certain way. You will be focused, perhaps you will be focused obviously certain things, you will not do certain things you will do… that’s Islam. Islam is discipline. You want to achieve in any field; you need to be disciplined. That’s where the rules and regulations come from subhanAllah.
What Shaitaan does is he distracts you from the obligations. So let’s say take Salah as an example, so you know you got to do it. You want to do it. You really feel that you’re gonna do it. But you know what? You’re on holiday, man….
Don’t be distracted By Shaitaan, Allah never goes on holiday. the days of happiness in Islam if you notice carefully you’ve got an extra act of worship on those days. salatul eid isn’t that an extra prayer! subhanAllah
Because ultimately you’re going to return to the one who made you, take something with you. take ..give Him an excuse to forgive you. Allah is looking for an excuse to forgive us. So don’t fall in the trap of the devil. – Mufti Menk
If you want to be helped help others. The hadeeth I mentioned the almighty tells us through the Blessed lips of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that Allah almighty continues to be in the assistance of those who continue to assist others.
It actually is the blessing within your life, the blessing, the Baraka, the contentment and over and above that on the Day of Judgment when you see the reward of it. It’s tremendous, it’s great, and you will never regret it. Charities have never depleted wealth. I have given someone from what the Almighty has given me and because I’ve decided it’s going to happen regularly. The Almighty has written their sustenance somewhere within mine.
A man comes to the messenger peace be upon him complaining about his brother.
We have in our families. We have brothers and so on the wives come in mashallah, all of them are lovely but you must remember each one has had a different upbringing. If brother and sister cannot see eye to eye what do you expect when the in-laws come in and so many.
So the brother comes and he says o Messenger my brother’s doing nothing. I’m spending on him. I’m giving him money. I’m giving him his monthly expense and I’m actually taking care of him and now I’m tired of this and I don’t know how long this is going to carry on and so on.
Doesn’t this happen in some of our families I mean you know in the extended families?
Sometimes in some homes the wife comes in and she says hey are you gonna keep on giving this guy, you know, subhanAllah? And that’s where the brother has to chip in and say hey that’s my brother, leave me alone. She might argue and say well you know fifty percent of everything you have you know is arguably mine? subhanAllah so I have a 50% say.
It does happen that we tend to get irritated even on our own sometimes. Do you know what? The prophet (saw) responded to this man guess what he said? Powerful words: perhaps you are getting money because you’re spending on him la ilaha ilallah.
But Allah (swt) warns us about spending in a foolish way even if it is a charity. allah tells us you know don’t be miserly and don’t even give so much that you’re giving necessity that’s yours. you need to strike a middle path. – Mufti Menk
