When the almighty has prohibited something at times we are tested by that thing dangling in front of us so accessible, its right within our reach, there’s a reason for that, Allah says when you stay away for our sake, we’re going to grant you contentment; you will be a happy person.
You’re in the condition you’re not supposed to be doing something that is otherwise permissible, do you still follow the rule? Just because it is accessible do you just break the rule? This rule applies to everything that the Almighty has laid down in terms of law and in terms of do’s and don’ts.
O you who have believed, Allah will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, that Allah may make evident those who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that – for him is a painful punishment. (5:94)
Do you know what when Allah has prohibited something? Consider it prohibited even if it is easy for you to do. Don’t do it and see the contentment that you will achieve by being conscious of Allah and pleasing Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala.
One of the biggest problems and one of the reasons why we lose contentment is we tend to focus on the lives of others, don’t do that, focus on your own life. Remember if you want contentment stop focusing on the lives of others.
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is your return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do. (5:105)
We lose sleep over what Allah has given someone else. We concentrate on others, their good points, their weak points, we are so upset because of what’s happening in their lives, Stop it.
If you really want contentment you must make sure that you are concentrating on yourself. How’s my relationship with Allah, look at what Allah has given me, he’s given me so many things without me asking him.
It’s only when things get taken away from us that we become conscious of what Allah has given us. So let’s become conscious of it even before it is taken away. In fact insha’Allah it won’t be taken away but you will achieve contentment when you look at what Allah has given you and you realize it’s priceless subhanAllah.
Allah tells us to respect all those who are trying to earn the pleasure of Allah as well whether they are rich or they’re poor, whether they’re black or white, no matter what color they are, no matter what ethnicity, etc, I could add no matter what nationality they are, what part of the globe they come from SubhanAllah, Allah tells Muhammad
And do not send away those who call upon their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His countenance. Not upon you is anything of their account and not upon them is anything of your account. So were you to send them away, you would [then] be of the wrongdoers. (6:52)
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, “Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself – indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.” (6:54)
The fact that they believe in allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala, you treat them equally subhanAllah, you treat them absolutely equally and you greet them with that beautiful greeting.
When people are sitting and discriminating, when people are saying something bad, when they are speaking evil, when they’re actually engaged in the displeasure of Allah; Allah tells us don’t sit with them, don’t be from amongst them, if you’re not going to be able to remind them and if you’re not going to be able to talk to them and if you’re not going to be able to help them out of the bad that they’re engaged in while sitting in a group then you better walk away. – Mufti Menk
And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversion. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people. (6:68)
As Muslims we are instructed to help save lives. If you save a life it is equivalent to having saved humanity at large and if you were to take the life of an innocent person away it is equivalent to having destroyed entire humanity.
Allah says And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. (5:32)
If you’d like contentment learn to help people, learn to give people such service that would save their lives.
Allah (swt) says -how important it is to remind people when they are going wrong, to remind them in a beautiful way that they are going wrong, and to correct a person that is also something beautiful.
They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing. (5:79)
To achieve contentment never feel bad when you are corrected because if you feel bad when you’re corrected you’re never going to succeed in life. Allah says the previous nations were destroyed because they didn’t correct each other when they were going wrong.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala tells us how important it is to consume that which the name of Allah subhanahu wata’ala was mentioned upon and this is speaking about halal food and Allah says
And eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And fear Allah, in whom you are believers. (5:88)
Halal and tayyib; two qualities that need to be found in the food. Animal rights activists speak about how badly animals are treated. if you want contentment even treat the animals with goodness. if you are not prepared to treat the animal correctly, don’t consume that. it will not bring about contentment and goodness.
Imagine treating animals that are not even consumable by us such as dogs and pigs to treat them with care and respect and with kindness is an act of worship that would achieve forgiveness and even paradise. The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him as expressly said that you treat animals with respect even if you were to consume those animals.
The day that you are slaughtering them and prior to that you make sure that it is done fulfilling all the rules and regulations that is when it will be called halal and tayyib.
If you want contentment you need to purify yourself. Don’t consume intoxicants and don’t partake of those intoxicants or from those intoxicants. The almighty tells you cut it out, leave it out. You want contentment and happiness? Don’t fall into the clutches of the devil.
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (5:90)
There are various bad habits that may not get to the point of intoxication but if they are harmful to your body they are not pure. Well sometimes certain things you do to yourself are actually very bad. if you want contentment cut those habits out.
I give you one simple example the habit of smoking, the habit of smoking is such that people say oh you know what well what’s wrong with it? It’s my own money that’s not your own body and the money belongs to Allah. He gave it to you you’re going to leave it on earth when you depart from this earth and you didn’t have it prior to you coming from here. so remember it belongs to Allah, you use it in a way that Allah wants and at the same time you make sure that you spend it in a way that Allah wants,
Imagine how much money you will save if you cut cigarettes, imagine how many people will actually benefit from the wealth that you are going to save. Because of you cutting out the smoking habit, the shisha habit whatever other habits may be there. – Mufti Menk
Divorce is taking place more than ever before. More than half those who are getting married are actually divorcing at some point, some within the first few years of marriage.
Is it because people don’t know why they are getting married?
Is it because people are not prepared to sacrifice?
Is it because we are focused on something we’re not supposed to be focused upon?
Is it because we haven’t developed our character and conduct?
These are questions that scream for answers.
Allah says that yes, divorce may happen as a last resort. Divorce will happen, it is happening but when it does happen be even more respectful after the divorce than you were within the marriage. Because there are rights that you need to fulfill after divorce that are so crucial to your contentment.
You divorced in order to gain contentment. If you don’t play your cards right thereafter you will lose contentment in a bigger way than what was in the marriage. So what are these rules and regulations?
Be very respectful
Don’t utter bad words about your ex,
If their children involve make sure the custody and access is sorted out in a fair way; the person is biologically the father or the mother. They have rights. Remember to fulfill those rights with respect. If you don’t, you will lose your contentment, you will lose your sleep, you will lose your health, you will lose the pleasure of the Almighty and there is no way that you’re going to succeed
Allah says But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each [of them] from His abundance. And ever is Allah Encompassing and Wise. (4:130).
Yes, if you need to say something or bear witness for someone respectfully, privately to say this is what happened. That’s why I actually ended up divorcing sometimes. You might want to be marrying again and your future spouse might ask you what went wrong? It is their right to ask you if they want to know they might want to hear your side of the story and they might want to find out the other side as well. It needs to be presented respectfully.
in Surat Annisa Allah (swt) reminds us of something interesting regarding prayer. if you’re a Muslim you should be praying five times a day. But when we pray don’t be lazy, don’t get up in a lazy fashion.
Contentment is found in Salah. Contentment is found in the house of Allah. Contentment is found in the obedience of Allah. if you were to rush through that you would be compromising that contentment.
Allah says Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little, (4:142)
In Surat al-ma’idah, Allah (swt) Ta’ala speaks about the importance of halal, halal and Haram to make sure that you consume that which is halal. If you would like contentment , stay away from that which is prohibited.
Allah says they ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, “Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah.” Indeed, Allah is swift in account. (5:4)
Eating from halal or Haram is not only about whether the animal was slaughtered in the proper way but it’s also connected to whether you earned your money in a pure way and whether there was deception in it or not.
Sometimes we get angry with people, we are upset with people. we dislike people and we become unjust with those people because of our dislike for them. Allah warns us in this regard verse number 8 of Surat al-ma’idah.
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do. (5:8)
Jealousy makes you lose contentment remember one of the sons of Adam alayhis-salam became jealous of the other. As a result he lost contentment.
Allah says And recite to them the story of Adam’s two sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah ], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], “I will surely kill you.” Said [the former], ….. (5:27)
Remember be happy with what Allah has bestowed upon you. Be happy for others. Don’t become jealous. When you were happy for others and what Allah has given them, Allah will grant you contentment. It is a very difficult quality to achieve. – Mufti Menk
Some people reject the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Some people reject the hadith. If we reject the hadith we will not be able to achieve contentment because we won’t be able to practice Islam.
The revelation that came to us is divided into two. One; the verses that were recited that are words of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala, two; the detailed explanations the words of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala has asked us to follow.
From the Quran (Surat An- nisa, verse number 65): “Nay, they’re not considered true believers until they make you and your decision final regarding the disputes between them and later, they don’t feel any narrowness of their hearts regarding that particular decision”.
We must adopt what the messenger has said. if he has said something and declared something it is considered a declaration for me too.
To achieve contentment Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala speaks about how important it is to ponder over the verses of the Quran.
Contentment is definitely achieved by recitation of the Quran without a doubt; greater contentment is achieved by trying to understand what is meant by the Quran, putting it into practice and conveying it to other.
In Surah An-nisa, Allah teaches us how to achieve contentment in another beautiful way; interactions with one another. The first point of interaction is supposed to be a greeting:
Allah says “when you are greeted with a greeting then respond with a better greeting or at least reply it with an equal greeting. For indeed Allah takes account of everything”.
If you’d like contentment don’t ever accuse someone else of a sin they haven’t committed. If you do that you will lose contentment and you may even lose the Hereafter completely.
Allah says “whoever has earned a sin and then accuse is someone who is innocent of the sin, they’ve thrown it on to them. Allah says they have indeed engaged in a huge slander and a grave sin, a grave sin.
Many of us are suffering today because we have soiled our mouths with that which is absolutely dirty and filthy regarding someone else that is not true. Maintain silence, keep quiet, it’s better for you, if you don’t have something good to say, the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him says “keep quiet”.
If we are to follow this hadith I promise you we will achieve contentment.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala speaks about resolving problems and matters, He speaks about marital discord and he speaks about how important it is to resolve marital discord and then tells us always remember that to resolve a problem is better than to break the marriage.
Divorce is permissible but as a last resort. The breakup of a relationship is permissible but as a last resort. It is still better to resolve if you can. if you really cannot then respectfully respectfully you may terminate a relationship. Respectfully you may go your own ways because in that particular way Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala will protect us and our offspring from that which is toxic.
People have a bad habit of comparing themselves to others and Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala has actually told us that he has favoured each one of us in a unique way. You don’t know what Allah has taken away from another and given them something you’re looking at, perhaps if the same was taken away from you, you wouldn’t even cope and you wouldn’t manage. This is why in Surat Annisa
“Don’t wish for and don’t yearn for that which Allah has blessed some above others”
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala has helped us fine-tune our thinking, we will become content when we realize; we have been gifted.
From surah an-nisa: He starts the verses by saying worship Allah alone and don’t associate partners with him in worship and be kind to your parents; kindness to your parents,
Even if your parents are strange in their behaviour and wrong and absurd and even if they’re criminals, we need to offer a little bit of kindness to them. We need we need not obey their instructions when they are wrong but we must be kind to them. Allah has never said follow blindly what your parents say.
From the Quran “be kind to your relatives, the orphans, be kind to the poor. Don’t rebuke them. don’t abuse them, don’t hurt their feelings. Then Allah says your neighbors, no matter who your neighbors are, even if they’re those who are travelling with you, those who are perhaps living next to you, those who work with you, all these are people you interact with they’re considered different types of neighbors, even those in a mode of transport that might be seated next to you, they’re considered your neighbors. Don’t hurt them, don’t harm them.
Allah does not like those who are arrogant, those who are haughty, those who are proud and filled with pride, work on you on these habits, eradicate them and you will definitely achieve contentment.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala tells us regarding spending; Allah says those who spend their wealth. So on one hand Allah is speaking about spending wealth, giving the poor, giving those in need
With kindness and then Allah says watch your intention when you’re giving. If you are to give and your intention is to be a show-off then we have another problem. So look at the balance Allah is striking;. On one hand he tells us that you must give and you must be kind and on the so look at the balance Allah is striking;. On one hand he tells us that you must give and you must be kind and on the other hand he says hang on don’t spoil your intention, don’t do it to show people, do it for Our sake.
Allah loves those who do kindness or who engage in kindness remember that. if you were only kind to those whom you thought deserved the kindness, the world would never become a better place. But if you are kind to everyone because you know that’s what makes Allah happy then definitely you will achieve contentment and you will contribute towards the betterment of the entire globe.
“Indeed Allah is aware of your enemies and he is sufficient as a protector and he is sufficient as a helper” (Quran 4:45)
If you know that Allah is more aware of your enemies. Then they are themselves that’s powerful.
If you believe in, you convinced that Allah is in control and he knows and then you believe that he is enough for me allah is sufficient as a protector.
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala says he has instructed you to fulfil and to give the trust to whom it belongs to fulfil the trust right to the end. Don’t break your trust and inshallah you will achieve contentment. – Mufti Menk
Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala has promised that he will test us and he will test us with so many different things one of them is patience. Allah wants us to be patient and Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala will put in our life certain things that will test that for us.
Allah says in the Quran from surah Al-Imran; do you really think that you will be granted entry into paradise and allah subhanahu wata’ala has not yet tested, you who from amongst you is truly prepared to struggle for the sake of Allah subhanahu wata’ala and who is patient…..
Remember that whatever tests are put into your life bear patience and you will make it through the test. You will be content, you will be happy; you will earn the pleasure of the Almighty.
Leniency is necessary in order for us to gain closeness to Allah subhanahu wata’ala and it is a sign of the mercy of Allah. In your character and conduct, be lenient, don’t be harsh. Don’t be hard-hearted, soften your heart be lenient and be soft in general especially with people and your interactions with people. Because Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala says in verse number 159 of surat ali’imran
It is because of the mercy of Allah subhanahu wata’ala that you are lenient with those around you; oh messenger Muhammad peace be upon him.
We hold grudges and we curse people. That’s why we lose contentment. you want contentment? Learn to let things go.
From verse number 190 of surat ali’imran indeed in the creation of the skies and the earth, the heavens and the earth Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala says the movement of the day and the night there are signs for those with sound intellect, those who remember Allah, those who remember Allah while they are standing, while they are seated, while they are lying down and they’re pondering over the signs of Allah in his creation.
How many people go out just to witness the greenery, the scenery, the flowers, the roses and they really achieve lots of contentment….
The verse number 200 of the same surah connected to bearing patience, everyone is going to be tested. Don’t compare what you have with what others have been given you don’t know what Allah has taken away from them, at what Allah has bestowed upon people and we become very very sad but we don’t know what Allah has taken away from them. So don’t compare.
From surah an-Nisa in it, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala warns us about the treatment of orphans and widows don’t cheat them, don’t deceive them, treat them with respect and care remember the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was an orphan, his mother Amina was a widow and remember that if you were kind to orphans, you would be resurrected with the Prophet peace be upon him like these two fingers as he says and he brought the two fingers together.
Allah says don’t cheat them when it comes to inheritance. Don’t cheat them, don’t deceive them. Look at the verses of inheritance. if you were to fulfill the laws of inheritance as per the instruction of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala and not cheat the vulnerable Allah will grant you contentment and perhaps even those around you.
From the verse number 17 of Surat An-nisa where Allah says repentance is for the one who has committed a sin in ignorance and to returns to Allah in repentance very quickly soon after that, what this means is repent to Allah as soon as you commit a sin and you will achieve contentment.
In the episode four of the beautiful series entitled ‘Contentment From Revelation’ (CFR) of #Ramadan2019 #MuftiMenk made mention some issues in order to achieve #contentment from surah Ali’imran; those are Spending in the cause of Allah, unity, usury, interest, hellfire and suppressing #anger.
Nobody can achieve contentment until they spend from that which is very very close to their hearts, from that which they love, from that, which is very dear to them, that which material is obviously.
From surat [Ali’imran] you will not achieve righteousness until and unless you spend from that which you love. What do you love? Whether it comes to your wealth, whether it comes to something you’re deeply connected to or even just your time, subhanAllah.
When attachment to something material becomes too much you lose contentment. Because contentment is the ownership of Allah, he will give it to whosoever is close to him. You want to become close to Allah, don’t get too close to that which is besides Allah.
The Almighty’s love is first. When it’s time for prayer everything can wait. When it’s halal and Haram we need to make sure, we do the right thing. When it comes to the timings, we need to make sure we prioritize. When it comes to family they come first. We have this rule that we need to follow regarding the connection that we have with material items. It should never be more than our love with Allah subhanahu wata’ala.
Importance of unity, unity comes about with a lot of sacrifice; if you’re going to sacrifice you will achieve unity. If you’re not going to sacrifice, you’re not going to achieve unity. There is give-and-take you need to have a big heart, you need to forgive, you need to embrace you need to tolerate. That’s when you will achieve unity. Unity is not uniformity. You don’t have to think the same like the same things, etc. you need to respect one another and tolerate each other. The differences we may have, yes, we allow those differences because at the end of the day it’s Allah who’s going to judge us.
When Allah the warning is simply to bring us to the straight path, remember that. The warning of Allah, it’s not that he is merciless. He is merciful, out of His mercy. He warns people. It’s like if we had a little child and we told the child be careful I will reprimand you, the idea is not the reprimanding the idea is the correction of the child and the idea is to ensure the child succeeds. similarly with Allah subhanahu wata’ala He warns us but his mercy encompasses everything to the degree that if we were to take heed we would be saved from what he’s warning us about as simple as that.
From the Quran, follow Allah and follow His messenger in order that you achieve Rahma, the mercy the contentment, the happiness what should you do? follow Allah, follow His rasul subhanallah.
Do deeds that will earn the forgiveness of Allah and let you get into Jannah, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala says those who have done wrong, those who have committed sin, those who have committed immorality if they remember Allah and they seek the forgiveness of Allah they’re the ones; if they’ve changed their lives thereafter to become good people. They are the ones who will be earning Jennah and Jannah paradise was prepared for those types of people, amazing.
If you suppress your anger you will achieve more contentment than if you were to vent it.
Allah’s mercy descends upon those who are merciful. You show that mercy and the Almighty will show you the mercy. Allah says those who can extinguish and suppress their anger at that moment. They will definitely definitely achieve goodness, goodness includes the Contentment.
In the episode three of the beautiful series entitled ‘Contentment From Revelation’ (CFR) of Ramadan 2019 Mufti Menk made mention some points which take away contentment from the Surah Al-Baqararh and surat Ali’imran; regarding divorce, writing down things, difficulties in life, Allah’s protection (ayatul kursi), importance of silence and Allah’s plan.
In order to achieve contentment, there are certain things we should not be doing; these are also mentioned in the Quran. we are to take heed and abstain from certain things or be warned of certain things, we would then be able to increase the chances of our contentment being intact or improving.
In surat al-baqara in verse number 232 Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala says when you’ve issued a talaq, you should ensure that you are not oppressing your wives.
You don’t leave them hanging in a way that they are neither your wife nor are they the wives of others. They are neither married nor are they unmarried,
Sometimes when a person gives one out of three talaq or 2 out of 3 talaq and they don’t give the next one or for example they keep taking this woman back and they play with her. Allah says release her in goodness and you will achieve contentment.
They are the slaves of Allah. They are not your slaves. when you think people are your slaves you will never ever have the long term contentment that the Almighty has prepared for you but if you are a person who understands and realizes that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala has mercy is upon those who show mercy to others, you will be merciful you release someone in a respectable, respectful way and this is how you will achieve that contentment.
Look at another verse in the Quran. That is very very important. It’s called ayatul kursi where Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala speaks about the protection, the greatness of Allah, this verse if it is repeated in its recitation every morning and evening and after every prayer, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala will definitely grant us protection from the devil. Hence the contentment comes in.
In the Surat al-baqarah where Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala tells us about the fact that He will not burden anyone with more than they can handle.
Whatever difficulties you’re going through, remember you can cope, you can manage, a little bit of patience, a little bit of forbearance, a little bit of effort and keep going and don’t lose hope, keep going, you know you’re so close to the solution and Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala will open the doors.
the importance of writing down things when you owe someone’s money, o you who believe when
you have taken money for a period of time from someone, the borrowing, the lending, write it down, make sure you witness it so that subhanAllah, We’re saying you achieve contentment.
In surat ali’imran, speaks about the importance of silence, before you utter a word, you are in Control of the word. The minute you uttered that word, the word becomes in control of you.
Allah says the sign that we’re giving you is not to speak to people except with some signs and remember Allah a lot increase the remembrance of Allah and declare His praise in the morning and in the evenings. You will achieve success, Allah will protect you. Allah will grant you contentment.
Sometimes we say things; sometimes we end up becoming vulgar, abusive with our mouths. It all comes back to haunt us.
Watch your mouth, what’s your tongue number one, number two develop your closeness to Allah by declaring his praise a lot and by remembering him often and you will see how Allah will calm you down.
From the verse number 54 of surat ali’imran they plot and Allah plots and Allah is the best of planners.
Allah has a good plan to combat every evil plot. Just have to bear patience and take heed. The next time someone does something to plan your downfall smile because your downfall or your success is solely in the hands of Allah. It’s not in their hands. Allah has not kept your bread and your butter in the hands of someone else. But Allah has guaranteed that He will grant it to you. You know elevation and izzah comes from Allah, the downfall of a person comes from Allah and themselves as well in the sense that if they were to do something silly, they’re to blame. – Mufti Menk
In the episode two of the beautiful series entitled ‘Contentment From Revelation’ (CFR) of #Ramadan2019 #MuftiMenk made mention of how to achieve #contentment from #fasting and the month of# Hajj:
Oh you who believe fasting have been prescribed upon you just like it was prescribed upon those before you in order that you may develop your relationship with the Almighty in order that you achieve consciousness in order that you achieve taqwa. (2:183)
When we fast how would we achieve contentment? Number one we calm down. Number two we realize that it’s not all about filling our own bellies alone, we control, we achieve discipline and that ‘show you get contentment. We become Compassionate because when I’m hungry and I start thinking about those who don’t have food at all when I think of them and I develop my relationship with the Almighty. I will automatically reach out to them by giving them a little bit of what the Almighty has blessed me with and this goes back to the point we raised where by reaching out to those who don’t have we would actually be achieving contentment and happiness. So, it’s amazing how the fasting is all connected to achieving contentment.
The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him tell us whoever does not leave false witness and bad words, wrong words, evil words during the fast, Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala does not need the fact that they have stayed away from food and drink they have actually wasted their time. So if you watch your mouth and you only say good words to your spouse, to your children, to your family members, to those whom you work with, to those whom you interact with, etc. you will definitely achieve a calmness and a contentment. All these training we receive during the month of Ramadhan.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam tells us how important it is not to react and retaliate to someone who’s abused us in any way, in a way that would create a bigger problem. When you are fasting, you should go out of your way to say I am fasting. You’ve sworn me but I m fasting. I’m not going to swear back and I’m going to train myself to become a better person even while I’m not fasting, Amazing which means even during the days I’m not going to be fasting later on, I will still be of this high level of morality, high values and so on.
We need to know where to draw the line when it comes to the Deen and the dunya, when it comes to the spirituality, the religious side and the worldly side. If you don’t know how to draw the line or where to draw the line you will never achieve contentment.
[2:208] o you who believe enter into submission in totality not just a little bit, you don’t just follow one or two things and expect contentment. You want contentment? Enter into submission in totality and don’t follow the path of the devil for indeed he is an outright clear open enemy. – Mufti Menk
In the episode one of a beautiful series entitled ‘Contentment From Revelation’ (CFR) of Ramadan 2019 in view to achieving #contentment by going through the Quran MuftiMenk made mention of the verses of Surah Surah Al Fatiha and Surah Al-Baqarah.
we are all searching for happiness for contentment and for success, in order to achieve this the Almighty has revealed so many verses and so many books, so many it’s up to us to go through this and to understand the plan of the Almighty when we understand the plan of the Almighty. We will definitely be able to achieve contentment.
Remember one thing; the Almighty when He created us did not promise us that we will be the most wealthy or we will be the most influential etc, but rather He promises us that if you were to follow what I tell you, you will be happy, you will be content. May the Almighty grant us all contentment.
Always understand the mercy of Allah. It will fill us with hope; it will fill us with goodness. We will be content and happy when we’ve understood the mercy of Allah.
He is indeed very merciful. He is indeed so so kind. He has given us so much that we didn’t even ask for that is the mercy of Allah subhanahu wata’ala. When you call out to Allah He will definitely hear. if you don’t call out to Allah you are not going to be able to achieve that contentment, understand He’s in control, understand what He wants from you.
When we’ve called out to Allah subhanahu wata’ala and we believe in Him firmly. It brings us towards the rest of the creatures of Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala, the kindness towards them is what comes from us. Because we’ve understood that Allah made me and he made all the other creatures as well.
If you develop your relationship with your maker you will definitely be from among those who achieve contentment because you’ve developed your relationship with your Maker.
Mufti Menk points out the following three points for achieving contentment for the soul / heart from the #Quran:
“1. You must believe in the unseen,
You must establish your prayer to develop your relationship with Allah.
You’ve reached out to others by spending what the Almighty has given you.
No one has achieved contentment by being miserly, by being stingy, by being selfish but rather people have achieved contentment by becoming very very generous”.
