Mufti Menk answered these questions in terms of Islam and current prevailing circumstances.
MuftiMenk Mentions that Allah Subhanahu WA Ta’ala tells us whoever stays away from haram or doubtful things he/she has protected himself/herself, his /her #Deen and his/her honor. When we speak of #halal (lawful) or #Haram (forbidden) there are many aspects not only food but the food might be halal; the money that we use to buy it might not be halal. So halal is food and drink as well as our #income as well as our #relationships.
Mufti Menk Quotes in this lecture “We should not become food lovers for the sake of loving the food but rather we should become halal lovers for the sake of loving Allah. Look at Sahaba (ra)- their thinking was absolutely immaculate, They could understand immediately this is right, this is wrong, why, the income was halal; the consumption was halal. The minute someone’s income is Haram they won’t understand right from wrong; they won’t see good from evil; they won’t understand who is actually calling them towards goodness and who is actually calling them towards destruction”.
#MuftiMenk mentions that usually #financial #hardship, we tell people to adjust their #lifestyle because a lot of the times we are buying things we don’t need we are spending money based on what we used to have in terms of #finance; now we don’t have that so don’t have the same buying habits.
Mufti Menk quotes in this lecture “the difficulties, we go through the hardship we face get close to Allah, pray to Allah pray for others. Look at those who are worse than you; never look at those above you because that itself is a hardship”.
To appreciate the #food #MuftiMenk makes mention of the verse from the Quran where Allah starts off by saying we will be tested with hunger; so many different ways, maybe there might be food but you may not be able to eat it or there may not be food and you will not be able to eat. So don’t #waste food when you have eaten.

In the Episode Number 2 of “Supplications From Revelation” series (SFR) of #Ramadan2018 with English subtitle #MuftiMenk explains why the words of SURAH AL-FATIHA are very powerful and is the most important #dua or #supplication in existence. Then He makes of the dua by Prophet Adam (A.S) which is the proper way of asking Allah’s forgiveness to wipe out our committed sins.

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Rabbana thalamna anfusana wain lam taghfir lana watarhamna lanakoonanna mina alkhasireena
“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.”

#MuftiMenk mentions that this the blessed month of #Ramadan we are given it as a gift as soon as the moon is sighted and soften our heart towards the obedience of Allah by following & reciting the Quran.
Mufti Menk Quotes in this lecture “A true sign of closeness to Allah is the softening of your character if your character is hard and harsh you are far from the Quran. When you belittle someone, you are sinful; when you give them importance definitely you will be given importance too by Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala . Give people importance no matter who they are; greet them, smile at them, talk to them in a way that they feel that there is hope..”

رَبِّ اِنِّىۡۤ اَعُوۡذُ بِكَ اَنۡ اَسۡـئَلَكَ مَا لَـيۡسَ لِىۡ بِهٖ عِلۡمٌؕ وَاِلَّا تَغۡفِرۡ لِىۡ وَتَرۡحَمۡنِىۡۤ اَكُنۡ مِّنَ الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ
Rrabbi inneee ‘a`oo-Zu bika an as−alaka maa laysa lee bihee ilmun Wa−illaa taghfir lee wa tarHamnee ‘akum minal khaasireen.
Nuh said: “O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers.”

Duas From prophet Abraham /Ibrahim (as)
Dua Number :2
رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْحِسَابُ
Rabbanagh fir lee wa liwaalidaiya wa lilmu’mineena Yawma yaqoomul hisaab
“O our Lord! cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness – me, my parents, and (all) Believers, on the Day that the Reckoning will be established
(14:41)
Dua Number 3:
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
Wallazeee atma’u ai yaghfira lee khateee’ atee Yawmad Deen
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense.”
(26:82)
Dua number 4
وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ
waarina manasikana watub AAalayna innaka anta alttawwabu alrraheemu
And show us our ways of worship and turn to us. Indeed You! [You] (are) the Oft-returning, the Most Merciful.
(2:128)
Dua Number 5 From prophet Moses/ Musa (as)
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى
Qaala Rabbi innee zalamtu nafsee faghfir lee
“O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul! Do Thou then forgive me!”
(28:16)
Dua Number 6
رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِأَخِى وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِى رَحْمَتِكَ ۖ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
Rabbighfirlee wa li akhee wa adkhilnaa fee rahmatika wa Anta arhamur raahimeen
“Musa (Moses) said: “O my Lord! Forgive me and my brother, and admit us into Your Mercy, for you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”

Dua Number 7 From Prophet solomon / suleiman (as)
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
Qaala Rabbigh fir lee wa hab lee mulkal laa yambaghee li ahadim mim ba’de inaka Antal Wahhab
“O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure)

In the episode Number 4 of “Supplications From Revelation” (SFR) #Ramadan2018 series #MuftiMenk makes mention of dua from prophet David / Dawhood (as) and prophet Noah / Nuh (as) and highlights their patience , obedience and prostration to Allah (swt) after making #dua or #supplication. Dua of Prophet David/ Dawood (a.s) for seeking forgivenss
وَظَنَّ دَاوُودُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ
wa zanna Daawoodu annamaa fatannaahu fastaghrara Rabbahoo wa kharra raaki’anw wa anaab
Faghafarnaa lahoo zaalik; wa inna lahoo ‘indanaa lazulfaa wa husna ma aab
…and David gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance).
So We forgave him this (lapse): he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful place of (Final) Return.
(38:24-25)
Dua from prophet Nuh/ Noah (as)
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ
فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
He said: “O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.
Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me.”
Qaala Rabbi inna qawmee kazzaboon
Faftab bainee wa bai nahum fat hanw wa najjinee wa mam ma’iya minal mu’mineen
(26:117-118)
رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
Rabbahooo annee maghloobun fantasir
I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!”
(54:10)
رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
Rabbi laa tazar ‘alal ardi minal kaafireena daiyaaraa
“O my Lord! Leave not of the Unbelievers, a single one on earth!
(71:26)
